Nominations Sought for P-O-P Hall of Fame
By Bill Schober, Editorial DirectorSidebar: P-O-P Hall of Fame
Once again, it is time for Shopper Marketing and the In-Store Marketing Institute to prepare to select its 2008 P-O-P Hall of Fame inductees.
The P-O-P Hall of Fame, initiated in 1994, recognizes individuals for significant achievements in marketing, in-store merchandising and P-O-P design and development. Administering it is one of the key responsibilities of our staff.
The first step is inviting the magazine's readers to nominate candidates. Background information is then obtained, and the magazine's editors and Institute staffers, through a process of elimination that takes many weeks, select no more than three in-store marketing professionals for the honor.
Let me sum it up this way: The process is fairly detailed for us, but relatively easy for anyone who wants to nominate an industry executive from the ranks of CPG marketers.
And that first step -- having our readers nominate worthy candidates -- really is the most critical, so I encourage you to consider helping us out.
Let me make it even easier. If you are at all hesitant about this, call me ... 1-847-675-7400 (ext. 132) ... and we can -- in total confidence -- bounce some names and ideas around.
If nothing else, consider industry executives who've been around for a few years and who you like doing business with. If you'd describe them as having a passion for the business, or high ethical standards and integrity, or exceptional creativity and shopper insights, then consider filling out the form attached at right and nominating them.
That's all there is to it. The 16th Annual P-O-P Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony will be held at the In-Store Marketing Summit, April 1-3, 2009, at McDonald's Hamburger University in Oak Brook, IL.
The three honorees, who will be profiled in early 2009 issues of Shopper Marketing, will join a group of 44 past recipients.
